Open Forum
For over a decade the Open Forum has been a premier gathering place for practitioners, public health experts and thought leaders alike centered around quality improvement, performance management, and innovation in public health. In 2021, the National Network of Public Health Institutes sought to expand the Open Forum’s reach and critical topics currently facing both the public health workforce and the healthcare workforce thus launching the Open Forum: Next Generation! Through rich content and meeting design, NxGen aims to not only continue upholding the Open Forum’s legacy but establish a culture of knowledge-sharing and capacity-building. Our goal is to ensure that practitioners have the tools, resources, and support necessary to respond to current and future public health needs.

PHIG Hub Convenings
NNPHI is one of three national organizations tasked with leading and coordinating technical assistance for health departments who received funding through the CDC’s Public Health Infrastructure Grant (PHIG). NNPHI is using a “regional innovation hub” model to identify and deliver the training and professional supports that recipient health departments need to accomplish PHIG goals. Each of the nine PHIG Regional Innovation Hubs consist of one or more public health institutes that work with state, local, territorial, and tribal health departments to analyze and operationalize essential public health functions in their regions. To this end, NNPHI and its Regional Hubs are hosting in-person events called “Regional Hub Convenings” in different cities across the United States. During these convenings, PHIG recipients receive hands-on technical assistance, build relationships with their counterparts in neighboring states or areas, share findings and lessons learned, and strengthen ongoing partnerships
