About PHIT

The annual Public Health Improvement Training (PHIT) is a one-of-a-kind training experience offering two days of interactive sessions, intensive peer sharing and learning, and purposeful networking opportunities. The two-day event also features hands-on sessions on topic areas, such as:

  • Performance management and quality improvement,
  • National accreditation and reaccreditation,
  • Workforce development, and
  • Health assessment and improvement planning.

PHIT participants take away practical tools, templates, resources and contacts to support their advancement professionally for themselves and their organization. Last year, 97% of PHIT participants reported gaining valuable tools and information that they could use in their work.

Each year, PHIT offers a new series of skills-building sessions designed especially for health department professionals and their partners at all experience levels. The call for abstracts processes and national planning committee identifies dynamic session facilitators made up of your peers, leaders, and national experts in the field. PHIT now offers a Leadership Track created to address some of the major challenges health department leaders encounter. Through a series of practical workshops and networking, leaders will gain insight and expertise in measuring collaboration, collecting and using data to show meaningful progress, and building partnerships that drive efficiency and effectiveness.
